Time to start gearing up!!!
Four weeks until early goose season will begin in Northern Parts of the United States, and that means for us and every other waterfowlers out there, that is four weeks of sleepless nights, getting decoys rigged, scouting, obtaining permission and making last minute changes and preperations. This year we start in South Dakota and have decided to freelance hunt this year which should add to the challange! There has also been an abundance of rain over the spring and summer, which is great for the waterfowl and makes it more challanging for us. With more water means more flooded areas or potholes for waterfowl to call home, so your tried and true honey holes might not hold near the birds, it's has nothing to do with the bird population but mearly there is more water for them to choose from, we would advise scouting, scouting and more scouting. Seventy-Five percent of our season is scouting and it should be yours too. This year we are happy to also have Natural Gear Clothing and Decoy Outdoors on board with us, as well as our returning faithfuls, Dakota Decoy and Thermacell. As always be sure and check your states waterfowl forum and other national forums for USEFUL information regarding the migration, the internet can never replace your eyes as a form of scouting but can be useful aid during the season. Be safe this year and enjoy your time afield with family and friends, if you see us out on the road, hollar at us, we like chatting with other waterfowlers any time because we are just that: Waterfowlers!

Mid-season shooting spree......
The season has been going very well for Loch'M In Waterfowl. To date we are harvesting some of the biggest numbers of waterfowl that we ever have despite the unseasonal weather patterns. New groups of hunters have been joining us for each hunt and new friends are made everytime. This past weekend we had 5 days of hunting that dreams were made of. Loch'M In host Ross Knobloch started it off when he harvested a beautiful Iowa whitetail with 15 scoreable points. Saturday the ducks and geese were raining in on a flooded cornfield, and at the end of the hunt 24 ducks and 4 geese were taken by five hunters. Sunday brought the geese out to another cornfield and the first group to call our spread home were several Lesser's, having never had the opportunity to have Lesser's decoy into our spread it was quite a sight when they were feet down in the stalks, 3 Lessers and 4 Honkers were taken by 4 hunters that day. Sunday evening the Loch'M In crew headed to the marsh for the 14th annual family hunt. We knew that the weather hadn't been prime for a waterfowl migration, but went with no expectations and just looking forward to having the family together to share memories. At the end of two days 38 ducks (one banded drake mallard) and 1 goose were taken by Ryan, Ross, John and Bob. Less than one month is left of the Iowa duck season and two months of the goose, and Loch'M In will be in the field every chance they get including a trip to Illinois' Torino Hunt Club and then south to Missouri to wrap up the 2009-2010 season.
